Season’s Greetings! It’s that time of year when we here at Marin Friends of Ferals reflect on our accomplishments for 2012. With your help, we have rescued 287 cats/kittens (so far) for spay/neuter, 92 of which were fostered by volunteers and then adopted with the help of the Marin Humane Society. Here’s what else happened throughout this year: • Linda Elder, one of our dedicated volunteers and head of the Foundation for Critical Thinking, wrote a children’s book about her feral cat colony we helped her trap. The book is titled “Fairminded Fran and the Three Small Black Community Cats.”
We received a grant this week from the Marin Volunteer League for our work on behalf of feral community cats in Marin. At a luncheon in September at Deer Park Villa, we, along with two other animal-related charities in Marin – the Marine Mammal Center and WildCare – were honored at the fundraising event called, “A Walk on the Wild Side.” We want to thank MVL for this timely grant. Now we can fund many more spay/neuters and buy some much-needed drop-traps and other supplies. This gift will no doubt make life easier for these cats and we thank them for that.
